Brunch at South of Johnston.
Poached chicken with crisp prosciutto, parmesan, croutons, avocado, lettuce, poached egg, aioli and optional anchovies. Which was really an ingredients list for a Caesar salad with chicken and soft-boiled (not poached) egg, at a reasonable price of $14.90.
The cafe has a nice lofty warehouse feel, complete with a waiting area of couches, fireplace and gossip mags. But that space may be better served as extra tables to shorten the wait for the Saturday brunch crowd. New cafe is still finding its feet for the hustle-bustle pace for the weekend brunch-rush, with slow and rather forgetful service from the wait staff. Redeeming aspect was one flamboyant and helpful waiter who injected much needed cheer into an otherwise unremarkable experience.
