Tsukune Ramen Set at Ramen Ya (GPO).
At $14 dollars, a ramen set at this little GPO joint will get you a steaming hot bowl of ramen, three crispy-skinned gyozas and a winter-warming cup of brown-rice green tea.
Sampled was the tsukune (minced chicken) ramen with tonkotsu (pork bone) soup. The tonkotsu soup-base was not the best but seemed authentic enough - it was flavoursome without being too salty. The ramen itself was decent and there was a generous dose of minced chicken and side vegetables. The gyozas were delicious and pan-fried to golden-skin perfection. Thumbs up.
The tea finished the set off nicely, especially in the bone-biting Melbourne winter. Not bad value for a city luncheon!
